    Tentative schedule August-October:

  • Clinics (Grades 2+)

Beginner Clinics are offered at various dates and times throughout the year. These clinics are a great, low-cost way to introduce field hockey to a friend or young athlete, or even to knock the rust off between seasons. Clinics cover FUNdamental field hockey skills through simple instruction and small games. Athletes just need gym shoes and a water bottle. Shin guards and mouth guards are optional. And no need to buy a stick, we will provide them! Our coaches are great with kids; they make trying field hockey for the first time a breeze!
  • Equipment & Uniforms

Field Hockey Stick - height of the stick should be based roughly on length from foot to hip bone - hold the stick up to one leg and make sure the top of the stick goes up to about the hip bone, not more than an inch higher or lower. All field hockey sticks are right handed, but lefties can play just fine! See the Longstreth stick guide for more information on choosing the right stick: https://www.longstreth.com/field-hockey/how-to-choose-a-field-hockey-stick.asp

Shin Guards - Field hockey shin guards must cover the ankle bones and most of the shin bone. Soccer shin guards do not provide enough protection and are therefore not permitted.

Mouth Guard - Must be of a color other than white or clear for officiated games. A special mouth guard can be purchased to fit over braces.

Footwear - Cleats are great for grass and are recommended for all League play. Cleats are required for middle school. On turf, athletes can wear soccer-style cleats, a special turf shoe or athletic shoes like cross trainers. No cleats with spikes or running spikes.

Uniforms - A t-shirt is included with registration for 3/4 and 5/6 rec leagues. Middle School uniform kits are distributed at the beginning of the season and collected at the end of the season. Replacement costs will be assessed if not returned in full. Kits include a home jersey (white), an away jersey (dark), and a skort.

Water Bottle - always bring a large water bottle, full of water!!!!

Goggles - As of 2020, goggles are optional. If worn, field hockey goggles must meet the ASTM F2713-09 standard (lacrosse goggles do not qualify).
